Review: Duplication Info Add-in for Windows Home Server
Categories: Home Server Add-Ins
This Add-in for Windows Home Server allows you to see which drives that your files stored on the server are duplicated to. It installs via the Add-ins tab under the Settings Menu in the WHS console.
Once added to the server, it shows up as icon in the console. Clicking on the icon displays a "Folder" type view of the shares and allows you to drill down to view the files (see screenshot on author's website). When you click on a file in the folder list on the lefthand side, it displays a list of your installed drives and a checkmark to show you which 2 drives holds each file.
Conclusion
This is a straight forward and simple Add-in that does what it says it will do. Installation was simple like most Add-ins for WHS. It displays a folder list of all your shares on the server, the filename, file size, columns of each drive and which drives the files are duplicated on.
I have this installed on my Homegrown WHS and a demo MSS. I have used it a few times when removing/replacing a drive to see what files are on the drive I was removing and then checking to see if they were duplicated to another drive when the removal process was complete.
