It is perfect for what I'm wanting to do for 1 TV in my house. But, when I went online to find out more direct info, including pricing I can't find much of anything. On HP's website it says that they are sold in select Costco stores, so I called my local Costco and they said that they had been pulled off of the price lists. I called the HP presales and no one there has a clue + they don't even sell them themselves direct anymore -"only Big Box stores" said the guy, well BestBuy, Circuit City, Frys and Costco don't sell them so who does? Seems like only Amazon and a few niche online retailers have them. If HP isn't even direct selling them anymore isn't that a really bad sign? I was considering buying a slightly older model (The 37") and was hoping that they would update it to have the Media Center Extender functionality. All apperances to me is that they are possibly discontinuing the line altogether so I'm sure that they won't be updating the older models either. Does anyone know what the... Rght now, I see a first iteration box with the same chip/memory/disk that was first offered over a year ago. In this market, everything should be upgraded much more frequently than HP does for this product. How many notebooks & desktops is HP selling in Aug2008 that were the EXACT SAME configuration as Aug2007? How about at least a dual-core chip and 4GB RAM. Plus, I have been dealing with my HP Home Server saying it is running to hot, I called in about it and gave them the system readings and when they got back to me they said it was okay, it was a bug and a system release would be made available soon. It was labled "HP MEDIASMART EXTENDER" and it had the bays marked 5, 6, 7,8. It wasnt a MEDIAVAULT, I know that for sure. Is this available now? DOes nayone have any info on it or a link? The earliest evidence I have seen of this is from the beginning of April. However, it could have been an issue prior to that. My MSS Power supply failed on 21st April and I have been told by the "HP Repair Centre" that there is no timescale set for when replacement units will be available and that their engineers haven't been given the necessary training to fix these products. UPDATE - 2-May Today I have been told that they have one unit available and it will be sent to replace mine on Tuesday. Maybe they are finally starting to get stock??
