Video stream in Media Center..not working

I set up streaming for my server. I show the music and photo's. The video does not show though. I am using windows Vista Ultimate. What format do my videos have too be in so media center will recognize them? Like I said the photo and music show both on my PS3 and Laptop but the video does not. Also what format or type of file do I need to rip my video in so the applications just open it? Right now my videos are in mPEG4....PS3 format. If i click on start on my laptop and go to networking and click on the server Icon I can go to my shared video on the server and then select what program to run it and it runs. If I go remotely through WMS the files shows but won't give me an option of a program too run them. IF I double click them they say that they can't play that format. Any help would be great. This forum looks great....Hope you all can help. I'm new too using servers.

windows media player won't share

I've had my 42 in MediaSmart TV for 9 months and have had no real problems with it. I have 3 pc's connected to it my problem is that one of the pc's will not let Windows Media player share however the server gateway works fine. Have no help from Hp. Have disabled firewall and antivirus makes no difference. There is a media sharing wizard as a part of the gateway server and each time I run it all looks good and it puts an exseption in the firewall. When you go in WMP and look at media sharing the server and the tv are listed with icons. Thanks Dirk

WHS Firefly... turn it off? turn it on?

With PVConnect, and Webguide... and Firefly... and iTunes installed directly on the box... I'm worried about performance issues. Should Firefly be turned off (and how do you do that?). Will these apps all play nicely together? Anyone have any thoughts? I noticed a slight slowdown after putting PVC and Webguide on, but that could be because they were building their little databases.

Domain &/or Workgroup Dependence

Problem: When my wife brings home her work PC, while she can connect to the wireless router and the Internet, she cannot see and connect to our home network; i.e., the PCs and printers. The reason is that her laptop is configured for her employer's domain while our home netrowk does not use a domain, only a workgroup. We cannot configure our PCs to her domain (a violation of her company's rules) and we cannot change her domain to our workgroup because she loses remote connection to her office and its resources. I understand that I should be able to access any files I put on the NAS from our home networked PCs as well as my wireless laptop (all in the same workgroup) from "any where"; including home. My question is: If I buy and setup an HP Media Vault (probably the mv2120) and place our common 'My Docs' files on the NAS, will she then be able to access all of them; Word docs, Excell docs, pictures, etc.? Thanks in advance. Mike In Tampa

Can my Apple laptop take advantage of the MediaSmart Server?

I have a heterogeneous computing environment at home and am still unclear at how the MediaSmart Server ecosystem accommodates both PCs and Macs. Would make the decision to go with MSS easier if I knew more about the benefits for my situation. Who has explored this already and can share some insights?
