Has anyone gotten Transcode360 to work with the x280n in VMC? in WMC? I just recently started messing about with W7 and discovered that in Microsoft's typical reverse logic it implemented fast transcoding in W7 and hence video streamed to the x280n in extender mode is transcoded and transcoded quite poorly with no apparent way to turn it off or adjust it. What I am hoping to be able to do is transcode (I abhore transcoding) using 360 and that will leap frog the Microsoft transcoder.

I must of done something wrong but I have no idea what it was. I was/am having trouble getting "converter" convert home movies I had on DVD so I thought maybe my "converted" folder was too full or something so I moved my DVD files that I still wanted converted to a folder "to be converted" set the machine to only convert things in that folder then I emptied out my "converted" folder putting the small/low resolution files in a folder "for my iPod" and putting the high resolution MP4's in the "Video" folder along with an old MPG file from my TV tuner. When I go to the PS3 and look at video's only the MPG file shows up and non of the MP4's. What gives? The PS3 saw the MP4's when they were in the "converted" folder! On top of this I still can't get my converter to work anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have My Movies on my WHS where I have movies stored, as well as them converted using HP video converter. I can access My Movies from my xbox 360 and it shows all the movies, with cover art, but when i try to play a movie, I get a message that the movie is a unsupported video format. I thought the HP video converter, converts DVD's (commercial) to a supported format by the xbox (mp4)? If this is correct, then what's the issue? Thanks

So I ended up ripping all my movies with the .264 codec in an avi container with AC3 sound. Most of my TV shows are in a DIVX/XVID flavor. I use Media Browser in Windows 7 Media Center. Here is my problem. The movies will not have surround sound unless I have Transcode360 turned on. If I have Transcode360 turned on, then my TV shows will end early and never play all the way through on the first try (although play fine the 2nd time). With Transcode360 off, not only do the movies not have 5.1, but at some point a ffdshow popup will come on the screen and go away after about 5 seconds. Then the movie will stop. Any suggestions for these errors? I also use my XBOX360 as an extender and everything plays fine Transcode360 on or off. The only problem I have with using the XBOX is that it is painfully slow. So can someone either help me with the x280n or fix the speed on my XBOX?

Now that I've set up my Mediasmart 485 server to convert my home movies, how do I stream them to a network connected PC (Windows XP) connected to my flat panel monitor? The media streaming app in the HP Mediasmart Server menu wants to stream over the internet. I've tried Windows Media Player 11 (all updates installed) but it will not pick up the videos when I add the folder to the library and when I navigate to the files and try to open them, I get an error message stating the ".mp4" extension is unrecognized file format and the file will not play. I've not been able to figure out how to use Twonky Media, is that what I need to use? I know this should be simple and straight forward. What am I missing? Thanks, Vlip

Windows 7 Libraries

Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent the Windows 7 libraries from automatically going to the Home Server and adding the Music folder as a location? The reason I ask is, I have 2 users on my machine, and in some cases 2 VERY different musical tastes. I'd prefer it if the 2 libraries were not consolidated like that. On top of that, this promise of full Libraries support isn't quite what I expected. Because of a limitation in Windows Search 4, when the Library aggregrates any music files from the server, most of the thumbnails are shown in duplicate and all of the file names have the .mp3 extension at the end of them, despite the option being enabled to show otherwise. There are a few other things it does that make the Library look like crap. So I would like to prevent the libraries from scanning the Music folder, or hopefully change a setting on the server to prevent it.

Hello, I've only had my server for a couple of months now so I am still fairly new to this. I have an EX485 where I have several home videos stored. I use WMP 11 on my computer (not the server) with XP. I've been playing the videos stored on my server by going into the videos folder and double clicking the video I want to watch. This works well with one exception... It takes a good minute before I am able to change the volume and/or fast-forward/rewind the video. The video playback is fine, it's just my ability to the controls takes a while to "load". Any ideas, suggestions or solutions? TIA

So when I use my x280n to connect in WMC mode to either a Vista machine or Windows 7 (both x64), it seems to show the video as being about 1min long. I can either be watching a TV show or a full movie, but it seems to vary between 1 minute and 1min30sec. Any suggestions on how to fix the time index? The videos still play fine, but I can't fast forward or rewind since the time is off. I tried searching for an answer and couldn't find one.
I have an EX485 server, an x280n Mediasmart Connect (MSC) and a Vista Premium PC to host Media Center, and I am very puzzled. When I have the x280n in Media Center Extender mode ("x280n MCE"), I can easily find and play an mpg file that resdes on my PC hard disk. When I move the same file to the EX485, I can easily find it with the x280n MCE, but when I try to play it, I get the following message: "Cannot Play Video The file type cannot be recognized and cannot be played. Either the corect codec (a file that compresses/decompresses audio or video) is not installed or the file is corrupt." This behavior seems to have started after I installed WHS PP2 and ran Meda Center Connector on my host PC, but I cannot be absolutely sure of the causality here. So, the question for the studio audience is: why can't I play this mpg file when it's on the server? Thanks! Andy

I've tried this and for some reason it's INCREDIBLY slow. I know some slow down is to be expected because of the USB limitation, but when I tried to sync my full collection to my Zune, it took probably about 10-12 hours. My collection is large (about 8500 songs) but I was thinking maybe a max of 2 hours for this. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Just yesterday, though, I tried to connect to my home server with the iStream app, and received this strange, inexplicable error: Restarts of both the phone and the home server, unfortunately, do not resolve the issue. The iStream app seems to be resolving the home server's location without issues, but upon trying to access it, spits out this error. I have not changed any settings in the home server since the last time it functioned. Any ideas? I'm going to try accessing it remotely from a PC today to ensure that still works as well. I may also try re-installing the MediaSmart app, although I can't see how that would help, since a fresh install og it on my original iPhone did not resolve the issue either (I have both an original and a 3G)
