Upper Case Temp Warning

I recently purchased a refurbed EX470. It ran OK for a while but now I have a red status light and an upper case temperature warning. The server is in a cool basement with plenty of ventilation. The lower case temperature is normal. The upper case temp is 80 degrees C. The top of the case is cool to the touch. The Upper and lower case fans show as running fine. I have the server turned off just in case. I currently do not have any drives in the top three slots. Is there anything in the upper case that could be damaged by a high temperature? I plan to open up the case to upgrade the RAM is there anything I should check or replace to try to resolve this issue?

Connector does not work when connected to ISP

I can not connect to my EX 470 from my LAN when my router is connected to my DSL modem. It works fine when the router is disconnected from the modem. I had to disconnect the modem to initially install the client connector on my PCs. If I ping the server by name with the DSL modem connected to the router I get the outside address of the Router. When I ping the server by name with the DSL modem disconnected I get the local address of the server. I can see the server in the network neighborhood with the modem connected to the router and the backups seem to work as well. I just cant use the connector or the console. UPNP is enabled on my router. What do I have configured wrong?

In other words can 2 hard drives be set as server storage and the other two as drives for server backups? Trying to eliminate need for external hard drives as server does not need lots of storage so two bays will be empty.

How does folder duplication work?

Let's say I fill all 4 bays with 2TB HDs. Now one is for the OS and the other 3 will be in the pool for a total of 6TB of space. Now with folder duplication will I only be able to put in 3TB of data because folder duplication is duplicating my data in the pool?

iTunes fails to show any of my albums +Q about cover art

I just unpacked and installed a HP Media Smart EX 490 for backup of PC, MAC and iTunes-server. I have an account on the WHS from where I copied one album to test with. I placed the album in the musicfolder. iTunes-server is enabled and iTunes finds my server but no songs on it. The album is in .wav so it should be ok. I've set the Music catalog in WHS to be "public" What can I do next? (I hope no noobs are bying this cause it's not very easy to set up) I also wan't to know how to get cover art on the albums stored on the server for iTunes-use. Thanks.

Question on total size

I'm confused on how it works. Let's say I use 2TB drives and I fill all 4 internal bays with them. I want it to be rundant in case of HD failure. Will I see 6TB total and the last HD is for backup such as RAID 0+1? If I add 4 more external HDs, does it come out to 14TB while one HD is still being used for backup? If this is true can I use all internal drives for 8TB and use one external HD for the backup?

Please Help! Sans Digital TR4M-B Port Multiplier

I recently purchased the Sans Digital TR4M-B Port Multiplier to use with my HP MediaSmart EX470 Home Server. I had read that the earlier server models support port mulitpication provided it is limited to 4 drives. I received the port multiplier today, installed a 500gb sata drive and plugged it into the esata port on the server. However, the server does not recognize the new drive. I removed the drive, formatted it, and tried a second time but the server still does not recognize the new drive. Has anyone successfully integrated a Sans Digital TR4M-B Port Multiplier with the HP MediaSmart EX470, and if so, how did you do it??? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ken

OK, so I have my EX487 set up and running. Automatic backups have run smoothly. Files have moved. Musinc sharing great. Problem is this: I have set up a folder for another computer in the house and have given the other computer full permission to the folder, but I cannot access the folder from the other computer. Have installed the software on the other computer as instructed. I get the error on the folder that the folder is available, but the computer that is logged on cannot access the folder. I'm new to servers and stumped. nothing I try will get the other computer access to the folder I set up for it. Any help, particlarly in simple terms and using crayons is appreciated
