McAfee Total Protection Question

I'm new to the Media Smart Server and just bought mine yesteday and found this thread searching for answers. So far so good on everything working. I reviewed some of the past threads and I seen that there was a problem with installation of McAfee Total Protection. MY Windows Home Server has update and I now have McAfee Total Protection and the PV Connect on my menu bar. Should I be concern or has most of the problem been resolved?

I recently installed some add-ins on my server. Do not know if one of them caused the problem or if I accidently deleted a file that is needed. When i go to the Remote Acces Share page it used too show two tabs on top Shared folders and Computers The computers tab is now missing. What happened too it. I installed the following add-ins. WHS Customizer - Customizes the picture on the Remote Acess Home page only Add Website- Allows you to create link to other webpages on your Remote Access Home Page WHS Disk management- Allows you too creat a diagram of your server and name harddrives..provides more detailed description of harddrive activity..each drive storage space and temperature. To Desktop- Allows you too minimize the Home Server Console and displays the actual Home Server Desktop. If anyone know what would cause the loss of tab and links on page please help. Path location of file on server which displays this etc.... so i can check too see if it is missing or corrupted. If you have a copy of the file even then I can replace it and see if it re-appears. Any help is welcome. Also I may...

ACCESSTUNES - True Remote Sharing for WHS - Let's make it happen

I have just spoken with the developers of Accesstunes. The website is www.zeleksoftware.com . This software, in its present state, runs on a computer and "serves" the entire itunes library over the internet (protected files, too, if the "client" computer is authorized - i.e., one of your 5 computers that can share the DRM tracks from itunes). You can log in via a website (with user name and password) and it runs in your web browser, and, even better, you can actually run itunes on the remote machine and (with an add-in on that machine) you can have your media streamed from the "serving" computer to the "client computer" with full itunes interface. I had a long discussion with them and they said that my request for an accesstunes WHS add-in was the first they had received. However, as we spoke, they indicated that if there was enough support from the community that they would be interested in developing an accesstunes add-in for WHS. I asked them if I could post this to the community and they agreed. This would be unlike any other add-in presently out there. To my knowledge, there is no solution for streaming itunes music files...

Error Code 1618 when attempting to install add-ins

Every time I try to install a new add-in, I get the following warning: "The selected add-in failed to install. The error code was 1618..." After the first failed attempt the new add-in no long appears as available, and the Server has an "At risk" warning until I delete the file from the shared add-in folder. Any help? Thanks!

McAfee removal help

I installed the McAfee add-in (but never registered). Well, my console locked up and I assumed that McAfee's indexing might be the culprit. Since I could only get the blank console screen, I went to RDP to wipe it out. I used add/remove programs to nix two McAfee items, and it went through the uninstall routines and erased the TopWHSaddin.msi from my addins folder. My console is since functional (not sure if it was due to McAfee removal or not)...but, lo, McAfee still shows as installed when I view my add-ins from the console. If I try to remove it from there, I get an "Uninstallation Failed" error. I've looked to see if I could find the msi online to at least put a copy in the addins folder and see if it'd work that way, but I had no luck. It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, but I'd still like to at least get rid of the McAfee entry in the console. How can I do that without the msi file in the addins folder?

Downloading add-in's direct from WHS or copied over?

I just placed an order for the EX470 and have a question regarding add-ins. I know how to install it once the MSI is on the system but how does it get there to begin with? Are you supposed to download it on your PC then copy it over or do you use a browser (IE? Firefox?) while logged into the WHS console to download it? I know it's trivial but I'd like to know what's correct. Does WHS even have a browser? It seems silly to log into a NAS using a console/remote screensharing session and browse the web/download that way instead of just doing it ony our desktop/PC.

I've installed this add-in but it only displays my PC which has the console installed. But it doesn't display my other PC's which are connected on the LAN. Is there something I need to do to enable this? I've installed the client on once PC and restarted my mediasmart but still nothing.
