I hope this is the right section to post this... seems like the closest match.

I have a question for all the AV guru's out here. I have a new laptop that only has an HDMI out. I'd like to connect it to the AV in on a DVD / VCR player that is attached to a TV that has no open connectors (no HDMI connetors at all). The player is connected to a 42" plasma and I'd like to play movies off my laptop and watch them on the TV.

Does anyone know if you can use an HDMI to AV connector? Will it even work?

Cheers,
Grant

Just out of interest before I think anymore on this, do you have an XBox 360?

The TV and VCR/DVD player is at work - there is nothing but that there. When I work the evening and overnight shifts I sometimes watch movies on my laptop when things are slow. I am trying to figure out an inexpensive way to get the movies to play on my laptop and watch them on the TV.
