Why would you want to put your home server to sleep? The whole point of a server is 24/7 operation. To back up at night while you are sleeping.

sorry for the late reply, thought my post was forgotton, anyway

here is how i have it setup want it to turn on 5am turn off 9pm backups are between 1pm and 9pm no remote access while i sleep and i feel the power savings is worth looking into a way

why run it while i sleep if defrag, backups,AV and my media center TV show transfers are all done during the day it sits idle at night

If I remember correctly, the EX470 hardware doesn't support sleep states.

You might try the Lightsout add-in. If I remember correctly, I believe the MSS does some checks around midnight or so.
