My guess is that the problem is with McAfee. It is the single largest cause of most problems with the WHS.

I have an just upgraded my sons Laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro L300D) to Windows7. It runs AVG9 antivirus. Since the upgrade my EX470 Mediasmart server displays the "no antivirus installed or out of date notication" when the laptop is shut down. This of course is broadcast to my other networked machines. If the laptop is switched back on the notification goes away after a few minutes.
This is not the AVG as I tried Kapersky 2010 trial version and it gave identical results. Anyone else had this problem? and a fix - I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WHS connector but this made no difference. I am running WHS with power pack2 with Mcafee security suite on the server

Actually, user error is.
Maybe I should clarify. The WHS connector or server is reporting a no antivirus error on the laptop not itself.
discovered its a bug in WHS and windows 7 there is no fix as yet

Same problem, runs Windows 7 on my clients and are using Panda AV Pro 2010. The WHS reports frequently that I have no firewall, no antivirus SW running on the clients.
Anyone seen a solution yet?
Yes this came out soon as the new version of AVG was introduced only in the last few weeks..with this new version you get the annoying error on WHS when you shut down a network computer.
What I ended up doing even though I have used AVG for the past few years, I uninstalled it and now I am trying the new Microsoft Security Essentials program [ http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ ] (you may be asked which Windows OS you are using for the appropriate download). MS validates your Windows copy before the install. After installation on a network computer the error no longer comes up on the WHS when I shut down. This is the same as before with AVG prior to its last major update, I get the message on starting up a network computer and the message will eventually go away after a few minutes.
This isn't exactly a cure for the annoying messages but its better than having that error message until you restart the machines each time. And I am hearing some good things about MS Security Essentials and I thought I would give them a try, plus its AV/AM with Real Time protection for Free. I also use the Malwarebytes program as well on my personal systems in conjunction with the MSSE.
Good luck.

The AV application's creator needs to update the software to correct the Windows 7 notification error (i.e. saying it's off or out of date). It's not really a Windows or WHS issue....
"everything will be ok in the end. if it's not ok, it's not the end" - unknown
Its not just with Windows 7 its Windows Vista as well, as thats what I am running on my machines here..along with XP which didn't seem to be creating the same error when shutting it down or off.
Just wanted to clarify that.

I get a temporary notification for my machines with Microsoft Security Essentials, but it goes away after it is finished initialising/updating. However, both of the PCs running Kaspersky 2010 (and Win 7) get a sticky notification. The worst part is you cannot permanently ignore them in the console, as it seems to refresh each time the client machine is rebooted. Kaspersky's comment was apparently that they do not make KAS for WHS! Pity I bought a two year licence!
