I am trying to be energy-conscious and have my MediaSmart EX475 run only when needed - which is not often. I have installed LightsOut, but the LightsOut client will start the server whenever any computer on the network starts, even if no one accesses it. What I would like to have (I think this feature is available in the newer model) is a simple utility that will allow me to remotely (and at will) put the server in standby and wake it up. I have tried several utilities out there, but the only one that I could get to work reliably is Prof Shutdown. It finds the Mac address of the server automatically, and lets me put it into standby and wake it up very nicely. The only catch is the steep price ($130) of the software, although if I am only interested in waking the server up they also have a freeware version. Does anyone know of a reliable shareware alternative that does both standby and wakeup?

Easy answer. Autoexit. What more can One say?

Titus:
Thanks for the suggestion. I am wondering though: with Autoexit you can wake up the server, but you can't put it in standby... You can shut it down completely (you actually don't need autoexit to do so from the console) but I don't see an option for standby. Am I missing something here?
