So I picked up a 495 a couple of weeks ago and added a second 1.5 tb drive to it.  I think it's awesome honestly.

I've run into a couple issues with the software side though.  The first was with HP's Media Collector.  See, I am pretty much completely Mac based in my home.  I have over 200 gig worth of itunes movies, tv shows and music.  MediaCollection started off ok, it recognized my mac and even started copying files over.  After copying 1000 files or so it just stopped copying.  The number of pending files increased over time, but nothing ever copied.  I let it sit for days thinking it was large files or what not, but it never continues copying.  I read posts about song names possibly confusing the collector, but I wasn't about to rename 1000 songs.  I tried everything to get it to work again, but I finally ended up just manually copying the files over to the server.

The bigger issue now though is the Twonky Media server.  Now that my files are all on the server I have Twonky enabled and scanning my shares.  It seems to recognize all of my photos from my iPhoto library, but it stops scanning my music folder after picking up a couple hundred songs.  I have tried to enable/disable the share, restarting the server, creating another share...I am just at a loss over this.  Another thing, in the TwonkyMedi configuration you can add another directory and tell it what files to catalog.  I add one and it disappears within a day or so.  Seems real flaky.

Of course I know this is an add-in, but it seems pretty straight forward.  There aren't a whole hell of a lot of options to play with and it seems like it should just work.  With no insight as to where to look to identify a problem I am pretty much stuck.

Based on other mac posters here I might try the iTunes install on WHS and go that route.

Anyone else here on a 495 with a Mac dominant home that are able to get Twonky to recognize their full library?

Looks like and Mac media collector and Twonky stops at the same place, so probably the origin of these to problems are one. Have you tried to look at logs in Event Viewer Applications section? Sometimes errors reported there help to identify the problem.

BTW, do you have 3.0.1 update installed?

Same problem here... media collector stops after a while. I tried the Reset Database button, it took a while and appeared to get farther the next time, but stopped short again. Never gets down to 0 pending files. The lowest I've got it is around 380. Bummed.

But then again, after downloading some new songs in iTunes, I noticed they were also on the MS... so perhaps those counts are just misleading.

I had the same problem with Media Collector on my macs... here is what I figured out... Media Collector tries to store your files with an Artist/Album type of file structure on your server. It does this by looking at the metadata (not the filename) of your itunes files to create the folder structure. If tries converting any Artist/Album names with an underscore to a colon instead. Unfortunately macs don't allow colons in their folder names. That is when media collector stops/gets stuck. I used Media Rage to globally replace all metadata underscores to a dash and then reset the database. It worked like charm for me at that time. I believe you may have problems with question marks in metadata as well.

I hope that helps.

As for Twonky... I don't believe Twonky will pick up itunes songs that are DRM protected.
