set up a vpn

I would like to be able to set up a shared folder on my MediaSmart server and then be able to remotely access that share as if it were a local drive. I want to be able to edit and save documents from the share just as if it were locally available on a hard drive. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

Short of a VPN, you can mimic most functionality with web folders. Install Web Folders 4 WHS add-in by Brendan Grant.
