So, after a while, the MS server just goes belly up until you power cycle it. You CAN ping it but CANNOT:

RDC
Mount a drive
Access website - internal or external
Stream

I use primarily MACs and have a 30GB iPhoto folder there that I have linked to my iPhoto...think this is the issue.

NOT HAPPY with the HP now. It is very buggy.

you use the name or ip for rdp, mounting a drive, website, etc.? if it works with ip, its not a bug

It doesn't work for either IP or name for RDP, www, mounting, anything. You can only ping. Since there is no local console into the MS, you cannot see what may be happening. The only way to recover is to power cycle.

ALso, Time Machine works but fails after a few backups. The drive is still there but my MAC says it's "delayed"....

Weird stuff and the reason why Apple makes a much better product IMO. This HP MS is crap so far.

I'm having the same issue, been working with HP support for almost a month with no luck. I've even swapped the chassis and no change.

I see the problem no matter what I do for a network connection (multiple routers, switches, and even a direct cable connection to a PC) I see the problem with ALL Macs and PCs on my network.

Have you had any luck getting this fixed?

hey guys I have the same problem. but with a pc network insted of mac. just got a new chassis from HP I had an overheating problem we thought that might be causing the network dropout. after rebooting we get maybe 20 30 min tops then connection to the server just dies rest of the network still works fine, just cant connect to the server, with the console or remote desktop. I am begining to suspect a virus McAfee doesnt know about... my problem started about 30 days ago. there were no changes in hardware or software on the network just started losing connection???

any ideas would be appreciated

I called tech support and we ran this WHS diagnostic report...it failed half the tests...suspect NIC issue. So, got a new chassis...it has been good for about 2 weeks now with heavy music sharing via Sonos and iTunes also video over WAN.

However, yesterday, my Time Machine backup drive went away...everything else is ok though. Any hints on Time Machine? I cannot wait for the new release next month...i'll be first in line.

The solution to my issue was a new hard drive. Basically my system would work for a few hours and then all application daemons would stop responding. i.e. I could still ping it, and telnet to the various applications ports (i.e. port 80 for http) but none of the apps would work. After a power button reboot it will work again for an hour to 3 hours.

My hard drive passed all test I ran but something was wrong because as soon as I swapped the drives it started working fine. We first tried swapping the chassis but that didn't help.
