Hi all,

I recently set up an LX195 server and it's collecting media from my win XP machine, but no luck on the windows 7 machine (which has most of my media). It backs up the Win7 machine fine but stops at that. I had other network issues and I used the connector troubleshooter which resolved all but this issue. The settings in the home server console have the win7 machine selected for media collection, but nothing...any ideas? Thanks.

PS: I don't have Powerpack 3 installed as I cant get it from the Connect site for some reason, it just doesn't show anything but my nomination date of 6/13/07 when i open that connection.

open the control center on the 7, try a connectivity test.
Does your 7 username and password match the server's username and password?

What control center are you referring to? Do you mean the WHS Console? Also, what connectivity test, like where do I run that from? Also, I created a username and pw but they are diff from the Win7 one because when i created the same username it said I needed to change the passwords to match and my win7 machine doesn't have a password. Therefore, I have 2 different passwords.

I believe you will need to match the user name and password on the Win 7 machine to get the collector to work.....

Thanks, turned out all I needed to do was to give the Guest account full write access not just read only for it to work, i think I'm all set now finally!

Enabling the guest account is a big security risk (i.e. malware/spyware look for that account). Setting up a password on your account would be more secure....

ya but that means i need to have a password on my win 7 computer which i dont want since i want it to auto log in when i boot it, is there a way to set auto-login on win7?

A matter of fact there is...

Press Windows R. A command box should appear. Type control userpasswords2 and hit the enter key. This should display the User Accounts screen in Windows 7. Select the user account in the main table and uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. A click on the Apply button will open the Automatically Log On window. Enter the password and confirm it to add the password to the system so that it does not need to be entered during logon.
