I read this blog and would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except NICE BLOG with a lot of information.

I don't currently have a Mediasmart WHS; mine is made from my old laptop and a couple of big external USB HDs. It does the job for now until I am ready to upgrade to the right product.
The one I want is the EX485 (my wife has a Mac) in which I will upgrade the system / first drive to either 1.5TB, or even a 2TB, but living in the UK this is not currently avaialable here so it carries a hefty premium for carriage from the USA and possibly extra import duties too.
But, back on topic, the reason I would have for upgrading the memory is that I have a couple of virtual machines which I would like to host on the WHS which a memory upgrade would enable me to do without any degradation in host performance.
Seems to me that if you are smart you will look at the HP 510 Data Vault, I understand that there are a number of sources that have this at special promo pricing now.... All in all most likely a better deal than attempting to import a EX485. I'm curious can you post a screen shot of the memory use of your system now with the virtual machines running?
To DAH; I don't have virtual machines running on my WHS at the moment because mine isn't powerful enough as it only has 512K of memory but it works flawlessly for file hosting, media streaming and ripping (using 'My Movies') and the Windows backups are spot on.
The wife's iBook has died anyway since my earlier post so the urgency to get my hands on an EX485 has kind of gone away for now but I will do something similar.
It's a shame you can't get the HP add-ins for Mac backup as I would rather build my own hardware-wise...
