Hello Folks:  Wanted to ask about Apple/Mac usage with the HP MSS.  Got a HP EX485 set up with a household of WinTel Laptops, Macbooks and Playstation 3 devices.

All the WinTel Stuff has all the functions of the HP MSS

Apple/Mac has Time Capsule running and the Back ups are in place.

Playstation 3 can play some Videos but not all.

Issues:

Apple/Mac - 2 Issues: 1) Picture copy from the Apple/Mac Library keeps crashing before all the Pics are copied to the shared Pictures Subdirectory (23+GB/7,400 Pictures)  2) In Safari https://www.SERVERNAME.hphomeserver.com/ does not connect to the MSS to allow any work with the HP MSS.  I thought a browser would be the "COMMON GROUND" for interoperability. (My iPhone can play the Streaming Media from the HP MSS using the HP MSS Application.)

Playstation 3:  Are the Codec's for PS3 to play all videos?  My xBox 360 seems to download codecs when it needs them.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.  I am hitting the end of my solution trail.

I'm not a Mac guy, so I'm not sure I can help you with number 1.

2. Some router/modems can't handle a loop-back, which would prevent you from accessing your own site within the same network. Try connecting via direct IP address and see if that works.

3.  The output files from the HP Video Converter should work just fine with the PS3. It can be useful for those videos you have that don't work with the PS3 off the bat.

2) https://www.SERVERNAME.hphomeserver.com/
Is this a type-o? If so lose the www. If not, Matt is correct that some ISPs block loopbacks at the router. I am currently using FIOS and they don't block it.

3) As Matt said the PS3 should support the files output from the converter. If your having issues with files you haven't converted, they may not be supported. See here for suported file types on PS#:

Hope this helps...

Good catch on the www. Come to think of it, wouldn't it also just be "http://name.homeserver.com" not hphomeserver.com?
