I would like to play music via remote access without having to download the songs.  I'm not allowed to download/install on work computers but I can play music on them.  When I connect to my server from work, I go to the music folder and can only open the indivual song or download it.  I would like to be able to select an entire CD & play it without downloading.  Is this possible.

You can stream music from your server with Webguide:

After reviewing the site recommended above, I noticed that WebGuide has not been updated since early 2008. What other product can you recommend? Twonky Media does not display any of my files when I connect via a browser off-site. When I connect on-site via the browser, at best, I receive a small list of a library that contains over 55,000 songs. None of the videos are displayed. I have been unsuccessful of playing anything via a browser using TwonkyMedia. Permissions are granted for my account. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your assistance

Look on the PVConnect tab in the console and see what it says for total videos. If it doesn't show any, check the settings in PVConnect for your shares with videos. You may need to rebuild the database. As far as playing any files via a web browser, the filenames must not have any spaces in them. If they do, browsers put a "%20" in place of them and media players don't seem handle that. I've never had it work remotely either. As soon as I try to go to the Media Browser, it changes to the internal IP address from the servername and I lose connection.

Also, although Webguide hasn't been updated since 2008, it still works for remote streaming.

I downloaded and installed WebGuide. All worked well except for the constant 444 port forward error when I auto configure WebGuide. To no avail I manually enabled ports 434, 444, 4125 as Both (UDP and TCP) for Twonky and WebGuide.

I have had absoulutly no success with Twonky.

Thank you for your help. I at least have one product working.

How might I install the divx codec on the homeserver? it will not install via the add-in or from the desktop.

you can try sokso or subsonic

Thanks Bruce. Subsonic looks like it will be ideal. The interface for Sockso wasn't appealing. I installed FirePlay but it too did not display my media. I've tried TwonkyMedia and FirePlay and neither displays my media (pictures, music, or video) remotely or locally.

WebGuide displays everything but of course it can't play iso and divx movies files. I will try Subsonic and get back to you.

Any help in installing the divx codec on the Homeserver?
