I was having a problem, which I posted on a thread here: http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/12269/Unable-to-connect-after-Vista-SP2/#6305

After seeming to resolve this problem (which included multiple hard resets of the WHS), I am now dealing with some additional issues, which I am certain are due to file corruption. One of these occurs when opening the WHS Console:

"The previous attempt to open the Windows Home Server Console was not successful because there was a problem with the following file: HomeServerConsoleTab.HP.dll. If the problem persists, please uninstall the add-in associated with this file, and try again.

To try to open the console with this file again, click Retry. To open the console without the features associated with this file, click Skip."

When you skip, the console opens, but without the HP Tab.

I've had this problem before, I'll skip, open the console, uninstall the add-in of question and this takes care of things. Usually, just reinstalling the add-in of question fixes things. However, there is no entry to "Uninstall" the HP Add-in.

How do I uninstall/reinstall the HP Add-In?

Have you tried a Server Recovery?

No, I haven't. I'm hesitent to do so; I tried a PC restore from a WHS backup a while back and it was a horrible disaster (despite me reading that this is supposed to be a "no brainer").

Also, I have spent countless hours setting up various services on my server, wouldn't this reset all that too? Everything else seems to be working fine atm (except this add-in thing).

I searched around and didn't find much on this issue. One user noted that they did a Connector update that resolved the problem, but others have had any luck. Still, it may be worth a try to uninstall the connector software from the offending PC and re-install before doing anything more drastic.

It's been awhile since I last tried to fix this; but still cannot figure it out. Since this last time I posted, I've done a clean install (and so to include reinstall the connector) on the client PC that I try to connect to the WHS.

I think this has something to do with the WHS because my home page (xxxx.homeserver.com) is also messed up.

Any further ideas before I take my chances with something drastic?

OMFG, I think I finally figured this out! I've been super busy for months, and so have not had time to work on this...

Today, I thought I would start uninstalling addins on my WHS to see if this would solve things. I had One addin: "MSS Fan Control, v1.0.0.7"; I don't know if this is really the culprit, but this was the first addin I uninstalled and then after restarting the WHS console, I got the error box above as usual but I chose "Retry" instead of "Skip" and voila... no more errors when opening the WHS Console.

However, I still have problems opening up my homeserver webpage, getting the "Error 500" page (https://xxxxxxxx.homeserver.com/Webshare/help/en/e500.html) Hopefully I have time to figure this out today.
