Is there way to backup WHS settings? So if primary hard drive fails I can restore them without going through process of creating everything from scratch. I know share folders can be backed up.

Nope, no easy way.

Some folks have tried Ghost and similar programs but then if the copy wasn't made JUST before the failure it's really no help. And actually executing this will, in the long run, take more time than a server restore.

We'd all love to see a solution for this but it's not likely to happen for this version of WHS.

Ok two questions then:

1. I did try ghost once, I ghosted system hard drive to new one installed new one in WHS it worked but under Server Storage in WHS console it would always complain that hard drive so and so is missing, new hard drive was different size model etc. Is there way to change this warring or "fool" WHS to recognize new hard drive?
2. Is there a way to backup individual settings? For example if have number of albums created in HP Photo Smart publisher/Viewer can I save them for easy restoring?

WHS is great but its major "Achilles heal" is when system drive fails, beside data if you have backup, everything else needs to be re-done which can take hours. You are right great idea for add-in or some other solution from HP or other WHS manufactures.

I agree it presents a (sometimes) lengthy recovery; too much manual re-do.

BUT, unlike Achilles, there is a recovery that does not require the growth of any hair. (If that were required I would be in deeeeep do-do...
