dear Friends,
i have one Western Digital 2TB Studio Edition External harddisk, which i have connected to server for backup. and it was working fine. I updated the windows2003 server and restarted. after restarting server its restarting everytime after 5 minutes suddenly. what i noticed, after restart the server when i browse the external harddisk from my computer , and suddenly it restarts.
After removing the Hard disk from server, Server working fine.
but the harddisk i connected to other computer, its working fine there is no problem.
What could be the problem????
Sounds like something with the WD disk. I recomment repartitioning it (to a single partition) and then reformatting it with a FULL format. After that I suggest that you run CHKDSK /R on the drive before using it again. (If you do it from the drive properties check BOTH checkboxes.)
The format and then the CHKDSK will run for a LOOOONG time. At least overnight for each one. BE PATIENT.
Post back here with results and we can try something else or, if it works, declare success.
