I use port 443 for HTTPS connection and all works fine, with or without port 80.
Matt
I have Verizon Fios for my ISP and they block 80. Has anyone had any success with using a different ports and then forwarding internally to port 80 to access their information on their Home Server. I have two routers one for verizon and my second a dlink 655 which is attaches to verizon router. The second router is also gig switch and uses 802.11 n for wireless and that's where I have my media smart server connected, so I have decent speed between my all of my computers and other devices. I've been searching for ways to forward the port but with no luck thus far.
Just trying to find out if anyone ran into this problem and resolved the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Using HTTPS (Port 443) instead of HTTP (Port 80) generally works fine. You can also get TZO to remap the ports before forwarding to you and then unmap them in your router. (Call their customer support -- a truly great team.)

I tried port 443 and was up and running within 30 minutes. Thanks for the info. It was really helpful.
Port forwarding, or tunneling, is a way to forward otherwise insecure TCP traffic through SSH Secure Shell. You can secure for example POP3, SMTP and HTTP connections that would otherwise be insecure...see Figure Encrypted SSH2 tunnel. (ssh.com/support/documentation/online/ssh/adminguide/32/Port_Forwarding.html#FIG-SSH2-TUNNEL-1)
