How do I setup sub folder permissions on my HP Media Smart server?

For example, I have a folder called Pictures which is accessible to Joe Bloggs.  Underneath Pictures I have holiday snaps, general, cars, etc.  Lets say I only want Joe Blogss to access holiday snaps.  How do I deny access to the other sub folders?

I cant see a way of doing this through the HP Media Smart interface - so is there another method?  Surely this is possible!?

Permissions are at the shared folder level only. I have not heard of any "hack" that will enforce anything at a lower level.

I have a folder that accidently got moved from the Shared Folder > Users folder into Shared Folder > Users > Username folder .. and now when I try to open it, move it back to the Shared Folder > Users, I get permission denied.  I tried to take ownership of it like I would in Server 2003, and it didn't let me.  This is mission critical stuff - any ideas, John you wise Guru you?
