I doubt it could handle games, but I have no experience with it. You'd need decent upload bandwidth, too. What games are you thinking of?
I occasionally have an interest in hosting a PC game. Most of the time, you need to be on a pc with a user id logged in so that the game will run. I'd like to learn if there's some popular action games hosted on the HP Media Smart WHS.

I'd consider Unreal Tournament, Battlefield 2, Variations of Counter Strike and others. I have a 1.5 meg upload, so I'd think I could do a descent job of hosting about 10 players or so.

Certain games might work the ones I play will not due to the fact they require a video card even for the server's use. I know the MSS has a basic video type card but that is not within most games usage types.
I do host a 24/7 mumble server (Which is like teamspeak/ventrilo, but better voice quality IMO) on my MSS for 6+ months now with no issues at all.
You, can always run a dedicated server through command prompt without a graphical user interface and...
For the graphics card problem, I found this interesting article, it would be pretty amazing if someone could adapt this for the MediaSmart Server
