I want to use Skypes videocapabilities to survailance my appartment. I have created two Skype accounts; one private and one which I want to use on my server.

The deal is that I want to add myself to my serveraccount so I can call the server and automatically start a videoconversation (I have hooked up a webcam to my server).

The only problem is that the server does not have a sound card which Skype requires. Is there any workaround for this? I just want the video to work, I don't need the sound.

Here's a post that talks about something similar.  The user there picked up a cheap ($4) USB audio card off of ebay and used that.

I'm assuming the same would work for skype.

[edit]If you do get it to work, could you post back here?  I'd be interested in doing the same thing via skype as it sounds like a useful feature to have.  thanks. [/edit]

Another option is to use Active WebCam...
