Hopefully someone can help me out.

I recently got an EX470 and I am now trying to set it up.  Unfortunately it has turnd out to be a lage paperweight.  Can anyone tel me how to actually get throught to a live, warm body at HP?  I tried using the 800-HPinvent number and was hon hold for two hours and ave up.  If you used this number and were successful waht path did you choose to get through their IVR?

The basic problems is the installation utility does not see the EX470 at all.  I tried the recovery utility and it finds the server but cannot do a factory reset or recovery.  I have resorted to using a corssover network cables conneted between my EX470 and a laptop to simplify the number of things that could be causing problems.  The laptop has the antivirus and frewalls turned off.

This is strange. HP has set-up a special support team for Mediasmart products and if you specify that you need Mediasmart server support during your call, it should take you directly there.

Did you also try live chat or e-mail?

Go to www.hp.com/support/mediasmart for lots of FAQs as well.

I was finally able to get through to the support folks at HP. it took an hour or two but I finally got there. I was going to try live chat but couldn't find an option for the MediaSmart servers.

Getting to HP has been frustrating for many because it is not clear in their literature whether this is a server or a home machine. There are posts both here and over on http://MediaSmartServer.net that will guide you on the appropriate options.

Did you get your problem solved?

The most likely issue is that the HP media Server (MSS) is having issues with telling the other computers it is on the network.

What color is the middle light on the bottom of the MSS?

Turn proxy off in Internet Explorer connection setting.
