When I try and run Start>All Programs>HP MediaSmart Server on one Windows XP computer, the Windows Installer routine begins and halts at 'Use source: C:/.../setupEN.msi' pointing to a non-existent temporary folder. All the other computers in the house run HP MSS fine.

I have tried to locate setupEN.msi both on the computer(s) and on the HP installation disk to no avail. When I start the HP disc it says a version of WHS is already installed and will need to be uninstalled first.

I have PP1 / 1.3 with PV Connect installed. It seems to be running okay and I am very reticent about uninstalling everything and reinstalling an older version, just to get HP MSS running properly on the affected computer.

In Add/Remove programs the HP MediaSmart Server appears to be installed version 1.2.4.18999. However when 'Repair' is selected the Windows Installer routine runs again and requires the setupEN.msi file.

I would be grateful for information the location of the missing setupEN.msi file or any other solution.

Thank you.

Uninstall it then reinstall. You can reinstall here: http://yourserver:55000

The HP OEM stuff is here:
\\yourserver\Software\Home Server Connector Software\oem\oem.msi

Mitch,

Thanks for your swift response and helpful answer. I cured the problem as you suggested by copying the Home Server Connector Software\oem\oem.msi folder to the target computer and running oem.msi from there.

Unfortunately in the process I also initially ran the oem.msi file on the HP Server itself.

This seems to have installed HP MediaSmart Server on my HP server. I do not think it was there before.

When I now check the Add/Remove programs remotely on the HP Server there are two entries:

HP MediaSmart Server 205.00Mb
HP MediaSmart Server 8.31Mb

They are both version 1.3.6.21622

In addition there is a shortcut to it on the HP Server desktop.

Should either or both of these be present? I suspect I have installed them by accident and hope I can remove them both via Add/Remove programs.

If this is the case then should I uninstall them in any particular order e.g. the 205.00Mb entry before the 8.31Mb entry?

Thanks again,

Richard

It would be normal to have only the 205MB version.

Thanks John,

I will go ahead and remove the 8.31Mb entry.

I have the same problem. Is this possibly due to an "update" or installing the recent add-ins? This really aggravates me because I JUST got the server Friday and it was working GREAT until today (after I installed the add-ins).
