PP1 is widely accepted, it is safe. A few posts shouldn't scare you. Install it ASAP for full functionality.

Greetings. I am a new member to this site and really am impressed.
I use my HP 470 as a file server and it has worked flawlessly for the 10 months I have owned it. I am running with just the one 500GB drive to avoid the DE corruption issue. I use the remote connect and backup but have not even looked at the other features yet.
I am anxious to add 2 500GB drives but will not do that until the PP1 is installed. Since PP1 was released, I have read quite a few posts that say users have had major problems after installing PP1.
Have they addressed these issues? Is it safe to install PP1 yet? I have installed the HP update but have not downloaded PP1 yet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for such a quick reply!
My problem is that as a non-teckie, aka old geezer :), if something does go wrong, I'm not totally sure what I would do to correct it.
This weekend I will download it. As I said, I've already installed the HP update, so hopefully all will go well.
Thank you,
HI, I am in the same situation as DickDay. Where will I be able to find PP1 installation from?
Boy, talk about the blind leading the blind :)
Right-click on the WHS icon on your system tray, enter your password and when the Console appears, click on the Setting menu option.
Select General (very first option in the pane to the left). You will see an UPDATE NOW button in the Windows Update portion of the screen.
Now you know as much as I do :)

Well, I downloaded PP1, and as you said, it installed without incident. My only problem is that the server drive is beating its guts out and, according to the WHS console, it is not balancing.
Is the HD activity I am seeing part of the upgrade process? It's been doing this for over an hour and is still going strong.
Thanks!
You'll need to let it sit for some hours. Just leave it alone to do it's thing and check back tomorrow.

If you're only running 512MB, you're going to run in to this issue. Upgrade to atleast 1GB, but with the prices there's no reason to get a 2 GB stick.
The HD activity stopped several hours after the PP1 upgrade. However, ever since the upgrade, the HD activity has continued on and off. When I look at the console, it's not in the process of storage balancing. Is there any way to see what is causing this? No apps are running.
Is this a result of the PP1 install?
I have every intention of upgrading memory but will probably wait until HP announces what they will do to support existing owners.
Thanks!
You'll be waiting forever if you wait for that. More ram will resolve this issue. This thing is not meant to be ran with 512MB with all the extra junk HP puts on it. Shame on them.
As for how to see what is going on... RDP into the MSS and start the Task Manager. Look at the Processes Tab.
As for upgrading memory (and even CPU): I suggest not waiting. I highly doubt that HP will do anything to "support existing users" in this area. I am sure that someday there will be a new version and there will be options for it, but I doubt any manufacturer would be inclined to "do" anything for older boxes that function as designed and advertised. I think the whole WHS/MSS concept was so popular that the uses for it (and therefore, the CPU load and RAM requirements) grew far beyond expectations very quickly.
