Hello everybody,
I thought i try the post again.
I purchased the HP mediasmarthome server and ran all the updates. part of the update was PVConnect.
I have PVConnect configured with the music/videos as per instructions.
I don't have PS3 or xbox so i like to test the media streaming part of the whs and access the videos over the PC.
I have media player and VLC.
how do i work the media or VLC to watch the video from my pc?
since its called media server, there shouldn't be a probelm..
any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
Hey Al,
so far this is what I been able to do with the media server.
1. I can browse to the folder/file and click to open with my choise of player. I was hoping for something spectacular but it wasn't the case. not sure what the big deal with pcconnect or streaming but it doesnt seem to work on my pc or my pc doesnt see it, if on any device it should have worked on a pc with a problem. tried VLC, winamp, media player, dvdplayer, media player and nothing
If ione could just browse to the folder/file i'm not sure what you would need a media streamer.
2 after researching some more i found a utility called On2Share. this works to a point and it picks up the folders/files from the media server but it wont play, maybe i have to purchase the utilty. i just payed $500 for the whm so its not going t happen.
so, i left it for now and use it for saving files. pretty expensive device for saving files when i could have gotton linux for free or a router which supports a usb storage device.lol
Maybe i'm doing somehting wrong but too frustrated to figur it out right now..lol
if you found something which could help, let me know.
with being a media streamer server which was built for media streaming i havent been successful using the main stream players to play any of the movies i have saved on the whs...
cheers
Yes I've been in contact with CinemaNow about this and it seems that the video downloads should have a lic. Key attached to them which would allow you to view the video from up to 3 different PC's. It seems the issue is Lic. keys which is always the case security issues.

I.C.
media smart homeserver would imply one shouldn't have a problem with trying to streem video from a home server since its part of the bild..lol
Anyways, maybe i'll go and buy a SP3 and see where it takes me..lol
