Hi all

A 64-bit version of the MediaSmart Services gateway is now available.

It is not an official HP release yet, but you are welcome to give it a try if you have a 64-bit system. (It should work on 32-b systems as well)

The s/w is available via ftp from

    FTP Access: ftp://gateway:connect@hprc.external.hp.com/

            or: ftp://gateway:connect@15.192.32.69/

There are two zip files. Unzip both of them in the same directory. After that, just run the setup executable.

Tried this, but when the setup checks prerequisites it fails with message "Sequel Server Compact Edition" not installed; Install from CD".

OK. Needed two more packages which are also available from the same ftp site.

Copy them in the same directory as everything else.

Let me know if there are problems.

Thanks, the software loaded and works fine on 64 bit quad Vista Ultimate machine after downloading these packages. I had previously loaded the 32 bit software on another XP Pro machine on my network and I now have two Media Smart Services gateway servers showing up on the Media Smart Connect.

I installed the x64 version and seems to be working fine on the PC side.

However Ihave not been able to usde the Online Services from the x280n. Everytime I try I get a whithe screen and a loading message but then the screen stays all blank. I do see the new messages from Online Services on   the Server Menue, but hasn't been able to use CinemaNow, Snapfish or Live365.

I do see the emdia been shared by the PC. Just can use Online Services.

Any idea on what may be wrong?

When you press "On Line Media" the x280n simply tries to open the OnLine media home page (it is a fixed URL in the firmware). If you get a white page, it means that the x280n can't access the internet - it has nothing to do with what s/w runs on your PC, since this is a direct connection.

Can you access the internet from other devices in the home? Can you check if your router blocks Internet access from the Connect?

When installing it, did you get any error message that it can't access the Internet? (again, it simply tries to ping the hp.com web site)

Thanks for your prompt rpely.

I think that your are right. I have a Linksys router with Paranting Controls that asks for sign up before give access to web pages.

Do you know where I can get the MCA address of the x280 so I can programm the router to by pass the sgn up process for the device?

Thanks agaign

Go to Settings

On the top list  it is Network, the third item (I think) is view Network settings, where you can see the MAC addresses (wired and wireless)

Does this link still work? When I go to the FTP site it asks for credentials. I tried to login anonymously but no luck. Thanks.
