I am not sure if the directory plays into your issue at all, but I have experienced a similar problem with my XP machine. It seems that when you go into User Management and change your username, you are not actually changing your username but the disply name associated with the account. In my particualr case, I was unable to properly access the WHS shares from the XP machine while my 2 Vista machines were fine. I then created a new account on the XP machine using the same username as is used on the Vista machines and all works fine. I could then go back into XP's user management and change the diplay name to something friendlier.

So I got the new updates and can now use the hp server software on my vista 64-bit machine. I do have an issue where it tells me my account is not found on the server and that I should create an account on the server and all that fun stuff. Well it actually is the same account that I use on the other machines. The software seems to base the username on the actual directory name instead of the account name. I'll try to explain.
So let's say my name is John Doe and that's the account name I use on my machines. I get a shiny new computer with vista 64-bit and the company sets it up with the account name of doe and therefore a user directory of c:\users\doe. Trying to be clever and think ahead I change the account name to John Doe to match the other computers in my house. However, windows does not change the user directory, it remains at c:\users\doe. So even though I'm logging in as John Doe, I get a warning from the hp server software after logging in that the user account "doe" is not found on the mediasmart server. Seems like a programmer assumed that the directory name under c:\users always matches the actual account name and that does not appear to be the case.
Yes exactly. Changing your account name through the control panel does not change the directory name and the WHS appears to go by the directory name and then tells you that your account is not recognized. I too noticed this issue on a windows xp laptop so it does not seem to be limited to 64-bit vista. I think WHS needs to change how it determines the user account and not look at the directory name.
