All you have to do is take the memory/cpu upgrade out for the warranty issue, although I doubt they cover lightning storms. I suggest you buy a UPS for next time!

We had some servere weather recently and my WHS was affected. Lighting hit near by casuing the electricity to go out. Once it was restored I powered on the server and received blue lights. However, when I try to RDC in or use the WHS console I'm unable to connect. Through some troubleshooting I've identified that the network card seems to have fried. I realize I'm SOL because of implemented both memory and CPU upgrade hacks thus voiding my warranty. I have a spare USB wireless adapter I was hoping to use so I purchased a SATA HD enclosure and installed the primary drive into it. After changing the boot order of my laptop and desktop to use USB-HDD as the first choice, I attached the SATA enclosure via USB. Both devices booted up to the Windows 2003 Server screen but then instantly went to the BSOD. I has an unused USB wireless adapter that I could use but without being able to login not sure I have any other choice but to send to HP and pay for the repair - most likely costing as much as the MediaSmart server. Any other ideas on how to get ethernet access installed on the server?
This brings a question/concern with the design of the MediaServer. In the event you can't log in to the server because of hardware issues how do you fix the server?
