obviously, nobody knows

I'm really trying to remain patient and uncynical, but it's been over three weeks since the botched update, and nothing since other than some hints at "soon" and "in the very near future".
Even some insight on what problems are causing the delay would be nice.
It's now been four weeks since the failed update.
Still no concrete information other than "very soon".
tick...tock...tick...tock.....
(Represents the waiting for the update to the update and the time bomb ticking Im imagining my MSS is making with all the errors Im getting from the 1.2 update)...\
LOL
The silence is deafening.
Surely there has been some progress?
Was the failed update that screwed up?
I wish I could say more, folks.
I highly recommend that you join the MediaSmart Server webinar, which will be held next Wednesday. Microsoft and HP managers will be presenting some information which I think you will find useful.
For more info on the webinar, see the Community Headlines blog post.

well i will be honest cindy, if the update does not solve the temp bug then my unit will be going back. i personally have had enough.
I'm keepin mine and have been using since December! No troubles at all with any updates from MS or HP.
mitch you are lucky then, im wishing i had just built my own setup with components i know wouldnt mess me around. searching round hp have given so many different excuses for the many problems. take the temp problem lemme see....
1, bios issue (most likely)
2, other software issue
3, hardware failure (obviously someone told the support reps to stop saying that hardware failure means exchanged units)
4, we just dont know (honest but what an excuse)
Well I singed up for the webcast. Im hoping that it will be to announce the new HP update.....and why microsoft disabled the shadow copy feature on the mss and that its safe to turn it on..,
Along with some toher tips, etc
In the webinar today, HP announced that the HP Update would be available when the Microsoft PP1 final version is ready, in order to ensure compatibility. See my latest blog entry for a link to a recorded version of the webinar.

So the Feb update, that became the April update, that was released and pulled within hours near the end of May with the guise that it will be released again "soon" is really at least another one to two months away making it at least August.
You guys really need to sort yourself out and not releasing information and press releases that you cannot commit to.
I would have much rathered that you said from day one that you will co-launch it with the Power Pack update rather than just providing false information for the past six months.
Where does that leave the unfortunate people who did install the update when it was available? Will we have a smooth upgrade to PP1 when it is released or will the botched upgrade cause issues? We've been told that we cannot uninstall the update so it complicates matters further.
Just installed it. It didn't break anything and all the new updates are there. Use remote desktop to install. Reboot after the install.
And I am not installing this McAfee addin :D.

Cool thanks for the tip. grabbed the update, so far no issues. And glad to see PVConnect (aka Twonky Media) - Have used Twonky for years on my Linux box for streaming to my Xbox & PS3, hope the Windows version is just as stable.
Folks,
There's good reason we don't want folks to download this update. Bits on this server, be they for your printer, PC, or MediaSmartServer, are only fit for installation through the supported HP update process, meaning that they have been marked as valid and tested so that your update software pulls it and installs it. If it's not marked as ready to download in the HP Update databases, you're on your own installing anything you happen onto from this server.
The most important reason you don't want to download and install this is because it is not what will be released as the official 1.3 update. If you install this version, you will no longer receive HP software updates because the versioning will not match the update rules. It will require you do a server recovery to get the officially supported line of software versions.
PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FROM THE ABOVE LINK!
Thanks,
Jerry

Be assured, you will be able to update to the 1.3 update and PP1 smoothly. We have been testing a thorough matrix of upgrade scenarios and you will be in good shape when the update is released.

I changed my mind, I did install the McAfee antivirus. I'm actually impressed with it so far. Too bad it's not free, but a 7 month trial.
I'm doing a factory recovery on my WHS box, lol. I kept getting the 1618 erros while trying to install add-ons after installing that HP update. I'm keeping the addons, though!
The HP update is ready! See my blog entry for details.
