There seems to be an ever increasing number of UK owners of both the EX470 and EX475 who are suffering PSU failures within 6 months or so of putting their servers into operation.
Apart from the still appalling lack of UK Hardware Support around this (an issue in its own right), I am concerned that there may actually be a problem here.
Is any other part of the world suffering PSU failures? If so at what rate are they going down?
Is it mainly in the countries where the 230V 50Hz line voltage is used, ie not happening on the 110/115V 60Hz national supplies are used?
Is there a problem with the earlier built units that has been corrected since?
Are we going to see another rash of failures in another 6 months as the repaired units come up on the same time frame and need a second repair in warranty, or worse just out of warranty? UK warranties are not being extended past the original purchase date plus 12 months, and the UK Repair Centre (a sub-contractor) states they only guarantee their repairs for 90 days - although HP UK will honour the remaining warranty period out to 12 months from original purchase.
Is anyone from HP who tracks these boards prepared to say anything?
Surely someone, somewhere in HP must be looking at all the faults from all over the world and conducting a Root Cause Analysis on each type, (as they should for all types of HP manufactured hardware) to see if there is an issue.
Are we going to see a product recall, or warranty extension programme to modify/cover hardware for existing users?
