You have to drag each file and drop them in which order you want them. I haven't found an easier way than that. It takes forever.

A series of photos can tell a great story. However, it's often important to make sure the photos appear in a designated order or the message may become incoherent. I am looking for solutions for two separate issues:
1) When importing photos from my hard drive to the Web Share album, the order in which the images appear in the album is completely changed from the sort order on my hard drive. Large albums take forever to resort in order to rectify this problem. Am I doing something incorrectly when uploading to the server, or did Microsoft/HP overlook a challenging issue?
2) When renaming multiple image files in Windows using a single file name and doing so as a group, a parenthetical number is placed on each file. However, once that group exceeds 100, some programs can't sort the images properly. Files get moved in a resort, because 100 follows 10, which follows 1. (Or, something along those lines.) It seems that this problem could be solved with a number series that includes placeholder zeros that meet or exceed the maximum number of digits in the highest numbered file name. (i.e. - 00001 - 99999.) Windows generally does a good job of maintaining image files in proper order, but as soon as you use another tool, proper image sorting is a crap shoot. To rename each file individually could be very time consuming. Is there a relatively easy solution to this problem?
How do I save time and trouble with these challenges?
A "sort by date picture taken" button would be a great solution. It's something I've been wishing for.
