What do you like about your MediaSmart Server? What do you not like about it? What do you wish HP would do to improve it? What features do you use most often? What would you tell the Server product designers at HP if you could have a face to face conversation?

I love the backing up of our three computers every night. The photo web share is a great feature. There is not enough memory in the stock units. The look of the unit is very nice. Would like HP to produce a companion e-sata box that matches the MSS.

A e-sata companion to the MSS would be great.
I would have liked to see at least one more e-sata port on the MSS to allow for one e-sata enclosure for backup ( like I have now ) and other one to expand the MSS storage. This way I can resue hard drives Ive upgraded on the MSS.

I wold like the ability for each workstation connected to the WHS to auto shutdown once its backup has finished. That way its not left burning power all night.
Gotta save the planet

Would like to see at least 1 gig of memory or an easier way to upgrade yourself.

More memory is a must. 512 just doesn't cut it.

1) I would like a much more featured web share application.
2) I would like the server to cetralize .pst file to allow access to email from any machine.
3) I would love to buy an esata extender similarly styled to the server.
4) Add a high qualiy, low cost online backup service.
5) I would also like to wake computers for backup then shut them down.

Brilliant device currently let down by software.  Unit's concept, size, styling, user accessable drives, power consumption all fantastic.  Too little RAM – not good, disk drives not seating fully into slots – bad, no access for diagnostics/support to the mothercard connector for VGA, mouse, keyboard – annoying,  forced to use HP Update (IRRITATING, REPUGNET tool) and no manual access to drivers/updates on HP website – FRUSTRATING, multidrive data corruption bug – GEEZZZ!, Windows Media Connect 2 – lame, HP's attempted rollout of PVConnect (Jan, Feb, May, June?, 2010????) – lamer.

My prime use will be as a Media Server.... rather apt for a device called a 'MediaSmart Server' BUT this is not possible until I can get all my media onto it, spanning multiple drives, with duplication and confidence it will not be lost/corrupted even on single drive fail AND a decent UPnP media streamer.

What to add wishlist:

1. HP Supported memory upgrade kit.
2. Four bay eSATA external enclosure styled like the MSS; with operational LEDS (as seen in mock-ups).

Nice picture. As long as we are dreaming I would prefer an expansion system the same size as the MediaSmart with 5 drives. I would like to be able to have a "Blue" drive indicator light on a drive I have decided NOT to add to the "POOL" and a "red" indicator only for a drive with a "real" problem detected.

2 things I'd like :)
The photo web share thing is important to me, it's the reason I bought the machine rather than my original plan of a Linux NAS.
But, the caption option in photo share is appalling, about a dozen characters and as flaky as a very flaky thing, useless!
I want a hundred characters at least :)
Second, why cant a WHS download Windos updates then make them available to the clients, SP3 being a good example

1. Upgradeability. (Not sure that's a word.) The ability to, as the end user, add memory and / or upgrade the procesor without voiding the warranty. That's my biggest gripe - 512 megs of RAM? My cell phone has more memory than that!

2. Print server: The ability to install a printer and share it from the device.
