nobody knows

I was on wegotserved.co.uk sometime ago and HP Media Smart Team for Home Server answered some questions on there and stated that they would be releasing an update with some new features such as McAfee AntiVirus and other services is this true and any idea when as this was supposed to be an April release as I recall?
Plus, I have been dealing with my HP Home Server saying it is running to hot, I called in about it and gave them the system readings and when they got back to me they said it was okay, it was a bug and a system release would be made available soon. Any word on this release?
Stay tuned . . .

The update has already been delayed twice.
It was firstly due in Feb then it was postponed until April.
What does "Stay tuned..." mean as we've been tuning since your annoucement at CES back in January.
Maybe they are waiting for the Power Pack 1 from Microsoft to be released like everything else WHS related is.
I wasn't bothered by the issues with the operating system until recently because quite frankly I didn't have much time to use the server. I have gotten more free time recently and want to use it and all of its promised features, but in reality it isn't very useful or reliable in its current state. Lack of 64bit support, corrupt data, slow performance, etc. makes the MediaSmart Server an overpriced backup device.
Until the concepts and promises being made by MS and HP become real, I don't see my opinion on this product and its operating system getting back to what they were when I originally purchased it.
Yes that would seem logical else they would have to release two major updates, one before and one after the PP1 release from Microsoft.
I suffered from the disk corruption bug so I am not putting mine into proper use until that bug is 100% fixed. I don't even use mine for backups; so mine is currently a very over-priced inefficient room heater and I had to pay USD$100 extra than most of you as they don't sell them here in Australia and that was the postage cost to get one here :-(
At the moment I certainly don't regret buying it as I see great potential; but it will need the MS bug fix, a decent Media streamer, and a HP supported port extender box of similar styling before I am truly chuffed.

I agree that the data bug corruption fix should come first. But, I would like to see some HP updates shortly after, especially, since you all got first dibs on trying out the fix. So if all is good, lets get rolling, because like Jarrods said its an over-priced room heater. -And sadly mine even says the rooms hotter then it really is.-
Id like to see an answer to why the SHADOW COPY feature was disabled on the MSS? Has HP talked about that? THeres a few people scared to turn it on since its usually enabled by default.
HP answered this question in the Q&A they did with wegotserved.co.uk:
9.I think a very relevant question is what did HP do with Shadow Copies and why are they disabled on MediaSmart Servers?

Dan - HP did not disable this feature. A few months ago we learned with the rest of the user community that Version Shadowing Service 'VSS' was enabled by default in the system builder version of WHS, however it was not enabled in OEM versions, most importantly it was not enabled on the HP Media Smart Server.
Microsoft disabled the feature for 'sysprep' systems. Sysprep is a Microsoft process for OEMs to create an OS image which has an embedded Microsoft license product key. More specifically it was disabled in what is called the 'sysprep script'
It is not clear from Microsoft whether this was a feature they wanted to be enabled or disabled prior to release, and the differences between the two OS versions may be the result of that confusion. Microsoft has not provided HP with a mechanism to enable this feature and has indicated that HP should not enable this feature. Therefore, HP support officially states that this is not supported. It is not clear if, or at what point this feature will be disabled on the system builder version of WHS as well.

Any timeline on when this confusion will be cleared up?
I would put the data corruption bug as the number one priority then the shadow copy feature as 2nd.
I know most of you would not agree but one of the great things about my server at work is the ability to be able to get prior versions of files anytime you want....
I was expecting to be able to use this on the MSS as well
There's and article here that was written at the end of March based on an interview with Allen Buckner from the HP MediaSmart team. The article's title is "HP Update Regarding the Windows Home Server Data Corruption Bug". Part of this artcile insludes the following:
"In other news, the HP “February” update is still in plan to be released some time in April, and will bring McAfee Anti-Virus protection, media serving from PacketVideo as well as x64 compatibility for all of the HP add-ins provided by the HP MediaSmart Server - yes, this means that certain add-ins will support x64 before the WHS Connector does, but that will be rectified with the release of PP1 later in the year."
