Every year, we make it a point to watch most of them, but my personal top three: "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "A Christmas Story". My kids would put "Home Alone" on there, but I can't...
As far as favorite scenes... All of the Grinch is a Chuck Jones masterpiece. I can't really single out one part. Pretty much the same thing with Charlie Brown. I find the tire changing scene the best part of "Christmas Story"... Of course "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!" is a quote most people know...
Miracle on MediaSmart Server Street - 12-3 - 12-9

What comes to mind when you think "Holidays?" Sure, drinking egg nog, carefully decorating trees, and unwrapping presents are probably the first popular traditions you'll think of, but one of the most common traditions of the modern age is often overlooked. Movies!
Since the mid 20th century, timeless holiday classics have made their way out of Hollywood and into our regular holiday festivities. In fact, many look forward to Thanksgiving ending just so they have an excuse to pop in their favorite holiday hits.
Weather you like to laugh while Clark W. Griswold staple Chirstas lights to the roof, get choked up inside when Ms. Walker realizes the crazy old man at Macy's really is Santa Claus, or sing "White Christmas" along with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, these fabulous films bring a little magic to the holiday season... if you can find the old tape or DVD.
That's where the HP MediaSmart Server steps in. Last week, we talked about home movies, and how you can make your personal memories easier to access by storing them on the MediaSmart Server and accessing them on a digital media receiver or personal computer. But did you know that you can do the same thing with your favorite Hollywood hits as well?
There are ways to digitize those holiday classics (and the non-holiday variety) and serve them up the same way you do your personal home movies. For starters, you can take advantage of online movie stores like Cinema Now that allow you to purchase and download movies online and dish them up to compatible digital media receivers, like the HP MediaSmart Connect, over your network. MediaSmart Home has a guide on how to do this, which you can check out here.
With a little elbow grease, you can also make the DVDs you own more accessible with the right software and know how. While we can't tell you how, there are places online that can give you everything you need to know about how to rip, reformat, and serve up your home movie collection. We'll be honest, this one's a bit controversial, but we'd be kidding ourselves if we didn't acknowledge that some people do it.
Are your holiday favorites stuck on tape? No worries, your VHS classics can also get digitized with the right tools and a little spare time.
Best of all, with your holiday favorites easily accessible, you may just find it easy enough to break out the holiday classics in the middle of summer.

Oh! Yes! The Grinch! "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is my all time favorite!
"You're as cuddly as a cactus. You're as slippery as an eel. Mr. Grinch, you're a really bad banana with a greasy plack peel." Ahhhh, I eat that stuff up!

I have GOT to agree with "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "A Christmas Story", probably in the opposite order but too close to make any real difference. And the kids loved "Little Mermaid" when they were little!
And now it's time to show them all to the grandkids! GREAT! I get a super excuse to watch them all again!

I've got to give the nod to Christmas Vacation (though Bad Santa has become a recent favorite as well). I have more than a little "Clark Griswold" in me, so I can totally relate. One of my favorite lines from Christmas Vacation:
"Suprised? If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more suprised..."
The classics "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" are my favorites. They don't make em like that anymore (look at what they call the "new classic" Shrek the Halls).
Some favorite lines:
From Rudolph....
Rudolph: But you fell off the edge of the cliff.
Yukon Cornelius: Didn't I ever tell you about Bumbles? Bumbles bounce.
From Santa Claus...
Narrator: I'll bet you know their names.
Children: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen!
Child #2: Don't forget Rudolph!
Narrator: No, that's another story.
"everything will be ok in the end. if it's not ok, it's not the end" - unknown
It's not Christmas until I see "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and then on Christmas eve watching "A Christmas Story" on TBS is always great fun.
"A Christmas Story" is at the top of my list - I also love "Home for the Holidays" and "Christmas Vacation".
Mine has to be The Santa Clause with Tim Allen and the best quote from it is
Scott Calvin: You know, you look pretty good for your age.
Little Elf Judy: Thanks, but I'm seeing someone in wrapping.
All the sequels to The Santa Clause with Tim Allen and the best quote from the original is You call this a little weight?
My favorite movie that I have to watch every year is A Christmas Carol. Best Christmas movie ever.
Well after hearing all those I would have to agree too but since a miracle on thirty four street has not been mentioned then I would have to go with that. We watch just about every Christmas related movies in December but Miracle on thirty four street is one that reminds me of Christmas when I was 9 when I finally got my train that I had been asking for. And my favorite part is when the two people that got Chris Kringle put in the slammer finally believe and they have the buttons that say "I Believe" and there sitting right in front of there boss which makes it that much better. And I'm talking about the newer remake.
There are sooooo many fantastic Christmas specials, but I have to go the sentimental route and go with "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Polar Express", and "Miracle on 34th Street"... If I were to ask my wife, they would be "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer", and "Polar Express"... My daughter: "Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and "Frosty the Snowman"...
The second tier would include, "The Little Drummer Boy", "A Christmas Story", and "The Santa Clause"...
"Christmas in Connecticut" with Barbara Stanwyck is one of my favorites, but I still love to watch the classic children's favorites: "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Frosty the Snowman", and of course, "Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer" and "The Little Drummer Boy", as many have already mentioned. We also have fond memories of an old VHS tape of "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" that my children watched over and over (all year 'round, day after day) when they were little.....I can still hear Jose Feliciano singing "Feliz Navidad".........
Definitely A Christmas Story. Favorite quotes are:
"You'll shoot your eye out, kid."
"Only one thing in the world could've dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window." You have to love the beautiful ugliness of that leg-lamp.
1) Christmas Store
2) It's a Wonderful Life
3) Charlie Brown Christmas

My personal holiday favorite and the one I make sure our whole family sits down to watch is "A Christmas Story." There's just too much funny in that movie...
Just one of the many great quotes, "My little brother had not eaten voluntarily in over three years..."
A Christmas Story is the best one without comparison ...
I love to see the little brother in his coat without being able to put his arms down and the kid licking the frozen pole with his tongue stuck to it.
I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I have to watch it every year.
"Merry Christmas, Shitter's Full" - best line in ANY Christmas movie ever, by far. Every year when I hear it, I fall over laughing.
Plus, the dog's name is Snot.
Another good quote: Is your house on fire, Clark?
No, Aunt Bethany, those are the Christmas lights.
And another: You shouldn't have done that.
Oh dear, did I break wind?
Jesus, did the room clear out, Bethany? Hell no, she means presents. You shouldn't have brought presents.
And who could ever forget Cousin Eddie kidnapping the boss to bring him to the house after he had robbed Clark of his bonus and instead gave him a jelly of the month club - "the gift that keeps on giving"?
No other Christmas movie can top it.
It's a toss-up between the original Miracle On 34th St and of course Santa Claus, the epochal battle of good (Santa) vs. Evil (Satan).
