HELP!
I just purchased the 470 (arriving Friday) and have already read the manuals and seen the videos. I had planned on registering a custom domain name when I set up the server... That is, until I saw yesterdays multi-link article "Purchasing and Installing a Secure Certificate." YIKES! From what I can gather, if I pay for a custom domain name but DON'T delete the old certificate and purchase and install a new one, I'm going to get constant SSL warnings when I or others access the server. However, the apparent complexity involved in installing a new certificate along with the "CAUTION: You can really screw things up here if you don't know what you are doing!" disclaimer have made me rethink getting a custom domain name. I'm not an IT guy, I'm a "buying a home server for my home" guy. Is this a mine field for me?

SSL Certificates are associated to a domain name. If this domain name is new, you should not have to uninstall any existing certificates. Purchasing a certificate is a good idea for any domain intending to use SSL, such is the case for this media home server.
But what if you want to use another service rather than TZO? I prefer DNS2GO which is only $15/year as compared to TZO $25/yr.
How do you install the client from another Dynamic DNS service?
